Yves Petry

Yves Petry (1967) is a philosopher, mathematician and writer. He is member of the editorial staff of the literary journal DW B and writes essays and plays.

In 1999 Petry made his debut with Het jaar van de man (The Year of the Man, De Bezige Bij). He has also published several widely acclaimed novels including De achterblijver (The Straggler, 2006, De Bezige Bij) and De maagd Marino (The Virgin Marino, 2010, De Bezige Bij), a controversial story about cannibalistic love, which received the Libris Literature Award and De Inktaap award for literature for young readers.

Petry's most recent work, Liefde bij wijze van spreken (Love in a Manner of Speaking, 2015, De Bezige Bij), is a tender novel about a dangerous love triangle and an unconventional father. Petry has been commended for the philosophical yet satirical approach that distinguishes his style.

Yves Petry is devoting his time at Het Lijsternest to a novel centring on Catholicism.
