Lars Husum


The Dane Lars Husum (1974) is a writer and a dramaturge for theatre, film and television. From 2004 to 2009 he was the writer and concept developer for Workz, a former subsidiary of Lars von Trier's Zentropa. In 2005 he wrote Espero, the first sitcom in Esperanto, as part of an art project at the Overgaden Institute of Contemporary Art in Copenhagen. He also has a weekly slot on the P1 Danish radio channel. My Friendship with Jesus, published in Denmark in 2008, was his overwhelming debut novel. The Dutch translation was published by Nieuw Amsterdam in 2009; in the course of 2010 and 2011 the book will appear in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Lithuania and India. The film rights have already been sold to Nimbus Films, a production company familiar from the Dogme movement. Lars Husum is now a full-time writer and while in residence at Villa Hellebosch will be working on his second novel.
