Perihan Magden

It took more than ten years for the work of the Turkish Perihan Mağden (1960) to appear in translation, but after her debut The Messenger Boy Murders and the immensely popular 2 Girls her international reputation now is firmly established. Besides being a novelist, Mağden is also an essayist and journalist. In 2007, after having collided with the Turkish authorities, she wrote Biz Kimden Kaçıyorduk Anne? (Whom were we fleeing from, mother?). Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk praises Mağdens candour and her groundbreaking treatment of the Turkish language.
