Judite Jorge

Judite Jorge (Azores, 1965) was born in Pico, one of the biggest islands in the Portuguese Azores. She currently lives in Lisbon, where she works for the national radio and television company, RTP.
She has won several prizes in Portugal for her literary work, poetry and prose.
Between 2002 and 2004 she had a seat in parliament, where she represented the interests of the Azores. This archipelago plays an important part in the book she is going to finish while in residence. She will be carrying out research into the role played by the Flemish colonials in the 15th century. At that time the Azores were actually called the Flemish Islands. In addition to her research, she would also like to immerse herself in the Flemish culture because she is curious about the background to her place of birth.
