Jef Aerts


Jef Aerts (b.1972) is a writer, poet, playwright and musician. He debuted in 1999 with the novel Haeren Majesteit (Haeren Majesty), which, through the unreal and poetic power of Aerts' language, fascinates. In 2001, following his second novel Vertezucht (Distant Sigh), a book full of lies and penetrating questions that were adapted for stage and presented at the KVS, Brussels. In 2008, Rue Fontaine d'Amour appeared, a novel about unruly love and the promise of a full life.
In 2006, Aerts debuted as a poet with Voor je er bent (Before you're there), followed later by a CD and a number of plays. His poems appeared in various literary journals, including De Contrabas and DW&B. Together with the singer Katlyn Ghellinck he established Momomatique.
