Eva Cox


Eva Cox (b.1970) writes poetry and short prose. She began writing poetry in 1999 and in the same year made her debut as a stage poet. In 2001 she won a contest for stage poets, the first Flemish Poetry Slam. Cox's writing style comprises of rattling rhythms that are ideal for the stage. Her first collection of poetry Pritt.stift.lippe (2004) received an honorable mention from the jury of the Flemish Debut Prize and was nominated for the C. Buddingh Prize. In 2009, her second poetry bundle was published, Een twee drie ten dans (One Two Three, let's dance), which was nominated for the Herman de Coninck Prize, the Ida Gerhardt Poetry Prize, and the VSB Poetry Prize. A number of texts have meanwhile been translated into English, French, German, Italian, Russian, Turkish, and Arabic.
