het lijsternest - ingooigem

Capacity: 1 author
Length of stay: 2 to 8 weeks
Availability: 18 weeks per year

On a hill in the West Flanders village of Ingooigem, a subdistrict of Anzegem, stands Het Lijsternest, the former home of the author Stijn Streuvels. The Flemish Gouvernment and "het Letterenhuis" puts this villa at the disposal of Belgian and Dutch authors. The residencies are subsidized by the Flemish Literature Fund. The writer in residence will be accommodated in the barn, which is separate from the house. This barn has been converted into a comfortable studio flat with all the necessary bathroom facilities, kitchen, bedroom and an Internet connection.

In the summer months, Streuvels' house is open to the public, but in the winter months, from mid-October to mid-March, it is closed. Then it becomes a place of silence. Belgian and Dutch writers can retire here during this period for a creative stay, resulting in the creation of new literary work at Streuvels' well-known window. Each writer in residence makes a literary contribution to the house.
